Start by mentioning the content of each activity, to offer a context and a framework to the students for the development of the activities. Have you ever helped someone make a soup? The first thing we normally do is the list of ingredients. Then, we determine the required quantities, the size of the pots, the cooking times, and the temperatures we must use. When we read a Sancocho recipe, we unconsciously describe variables such as temperature, volume, pressure, and heat, which make part of a thermodynamic system, and through which we can describe the physical and chemical changes that happen inside a cooking pot. Through this learning object, you can discover how energy affects the changes in the state of matter, how it relates to the forces that keep molecules joined together, and how it is released or absorbed in a chemical reaction.
