Why can you travel to the future but not to the past – Física 11º

To the teacher: The following introduction starts with some questions you can ask your students so that they respond orally to motivate them to study the subject. You may also present the contents to be worked on in this learning object.

Have you ever imagined time travelling? Going into the future and seeing a world different from the one you know or travelling to the past and correcting any mistakes made? Time travel has been in the minds of many scientists, filmmakers, writers and ordinary people like us. In the early 20th century there were many alterations to the way nature was thought of, which was believed to be regular and orderly. The technological revolution at the time allowed significant progress in exploring the microscopic world, which originated the emergence of new conceptions of the universe that substantially changed the laws of physics. These new conceptions of the world gave rise to many discoveries and breakthroughs in both scientific and technological knowledge that characterize contemporary physics. Throughout this unit you will learn some achievements of scientists like Einstein that may help time travel become a reality in a hopefully not so distant future. Also, you will see how these studies have led to the development of technological tools for daily use such as Global Positioning Systems or GPS.
